MP for Twifo/Atti-Morkwa promises to support cocoa and rice farmers

The Member of Parliament for Twifo/Atti-Morkwa constituency in the Central Region Hon. Abraham Dwuma Odoom has promised to use a substantial portion of his MPs Common Fund to support cocoa and rice farmers to expand their farms in order to employ more hands to reduce unemployment in the constituency.

He noted that the agric sector which is the backbone of the country's economy has the potential to create jobs for the unemployed youth and is therefore going to do everything possible to support cocoa and rice farmers to increase their crop yields.

He outlined some of the initiatives he plans to roll out to boost cocoa and rice production in the constituency.

He mentioned supply of fertilizers, cocoa seedlings, cocoa pollination exercise, construction of bridges construction to connect farms project and many more.

Hon. Dwuma Odoom made this promise at the agricultural development initiative meeting with chief farmers in the Twifo/Atti-Morkwa District on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Assembly's hall.

The MP, who touted the government flagship "Planting for Food and Jobs" programme, said his vision is to ensure that the programme leads to improvement in the living conditions of farmers and their dependents in the District.

The farmers who attended the meeting expressed their profound gratitude to the MP and appealed to him, to ensure that the deplorable state of roads in the constituency is improved to facilitate movement of farm produce.
