Over hundred people who are occupying some blocks of Kaiser Flats in Tema community 4 have been ordered by the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) to vacate the place by Wednesday, January 31, 2018 or suffer forceful eviction on February 1, 2018.
The order is in line with Tema High Court ruling as far back as 28th October, 2013 which favoured TDC.
The eviction order is affecting persons occupying block 407, 408, 410 and 415.

A statement signed by the Managing Director of TDC Alice Abena Ofori-Atta (Mrs.) and copied to Oman FM stressed that "following the Tema High Court ruling in favour of TDC, it subsequently obtained a writ of possession to remove the occupants of the above blocks."
"The recovery of the blocks was undertaken by the court sometimes in July, 2017 but due to some interventions, the exercise was aborted by the court. Later, the occupants went to court to plead for some time to vacate the flats.
The court obliged and gave them up to the 31st of January, 2018 to completely vacate the block of the flats," the statement explained.
The TDC in the statement noted that the eviction exercise is to make way for re-development scheme planned for the whole of Tema, especially the Kaiser Flats area.

Speaking to Oman FM, the Assemblyman for Horticulture Electoral area Hon. Richard Anning said he had sensitized the affected persons and they have agreed to move out of the place by the close of Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
However, his major concern was about how those occupying one of the twin flats could gain access to their rooms since the only staircase that connects the twin flats had been earmarked for demolishing along with one of the twin flats which is considered to be in bad condition.

He appealed to TDC to put measures in place to ensure that occupants of the other twin flats gain access to their rooms without difficulties.
