The Accra Regional Police Command has debunked what it described as false information making rounds on social media that six out of the seven suspected criminals who absconded from lawful custody at Kwabenya Police Station have all surrendered themselves to the Madina Police.

Reports on some social media and some online portal suggests that Dickson Ofori, Edem Rockson, Prince Osei, Kofi Darko,Emmanuel Kotey, Kofi Darko and Attah Kwadwo who escaped from Kwabenya cells on Sunday, January 21, 2018 following an attack at the Station by a criminal gang have reported themselves to the Madina Police.

The reports suggested that Chibuzor Akwabu who was the only Nigerian among the escapees was still at large.

But a statement signed by ASP Effia Tenge, the Head of Public Affairs Unit of the Command urged the public to disregard the fake news.

“The Command strongly suspect this information is intended to divert the attention of the public from the ongoing pursuit. Police will caution the general public against channeling unverified information on the social media space,” the statement said.

“A search for the escapees continue unabated and credible information on the subject matter is still welcomed on Police hotlines 191, MTN/VODAFON Toll Free 18555, 0302773695,0302787373,” the statement added.
