Economist and Chief Executive Officer of Public Sector Reforms Thomas Kusi Boafo has served notice to those who bought state vehicles at cheap prices during the immediate past Mahama administration that they will soon be dragged to court by the Special Prosecutor.

The former economic lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University who accused the immediate past administration of cannibalizing the country’s economy mentioned that state cars were given out to persons including politicians, pastors, journalists, chiefs and celebrities at cheap prices.

According to him, names of all those who benefited from what he described as clandestine distribution of state cars will be made public when the newly appointed Special Prosecutor is confirmed by Parliament and start working.

Mr. Kusi Boafo has claimed that cars which were purchased during Mahama administration and arrived on March 15, 2015 were sold at cheap prices within a period of 3 months.”

According to him, the cost of each vehicle was priced at about $165,000 when the state acquired them but were being sold as low as $2,500 to the extent “a party official who is a teacher, bought 6 cars at a total expected cost of GH¢190,000 but ended up paying GH¢50,000”.

Kusi Boafo said, “The cars were giveaways and the presidency became vehicle transition point for corruption”.

But the former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah contested the allegations by Mr. Kusi Boafo describing him as a liar.

However, speaking to Oman News on Tuesday Mr. Kusi Boafo insisted that he possession of sordid dossier to prove his claim that the Mahama government bought cars at expensive prices and later sold them back to the suppliers at low cost.

He said Akufo-Addo administration will pursue this matter to because it is serious of fighting corruption in the country.

“This government is serious. The president is serious the Chief of Staff is serious,” he said.
