Bomb seizure: Police urges calm; assures of public safety

The Police Administration has called on the public to remain calm assuring that it is working to ensure public safety.

The assurance follows the arrest of three persons with varied explosives on Monday at Odorkor, a suburb of Accra.

The Odorkor Divisional Police command upon a tip of conducted an operation at Agape Down and arrested a 30-year-old Abdul Kariam who is said to be a notorious landguard and suspected armed robber.

When a search was conducted in the suspect’s room, the police allegedly found seven pieces of hand grenade (bomb) in the room.

The suspect admitted the items were supplied to him by one Ismail Ali Musah and led the police to Kata Hostel around Nyamekye, where he was also arrested together with one Osman Alhassan, a Malian friend.

According to the police, during interrogation the suspects confessed that they have sold some arms and ammunitions into the Ghanaians community already.

A statement signed by the Director General in charge of Public Affairs ACP David Eklu indicated that the police is investigating the matter in coordination with relevant agencies and assured the public to remain calm.

“Anybody with information related to the case under investigation is urged to promptly call 191(on all networks0 or 18555(on Vodafone and MTN),” the statement said.
