Government has deployed a joint Military and Police team to commence an operation in the Asante Akyem North and Sekyere Afram Plains districts in the Ashanti and Eastern regions following recent attacks on residents and security personnel in the area by nomadic Fulani herdsmen.

A statement signed by the Deputy Information Minister Curtis Perry Kwabla Okudzeto, said "There are about two hundred (200) Ghana Police and Military Officers including the Air Force involved in this operation."

The team is expected to pushback the herdsmen from the new areas they have occupied, arrest perpetrators of recent acts of violence for prosecution as well as augment the efforts of the Operation Cowleg, an ongoing security operation aimed at dealing with the activities of herdsmen in the area.

"A programme to restrict and ranch cattle will commence upon the completion to provide a long term solution to the challenges associated with the unrestricted cattle rearing," the statement indicated
