Karpowership Ghana Company Limited has commissioned the biggest Powership at the Tema Fishing Harbour to supply reliable and uninterrupted electricity to the national grid to boost the growth of country's economy.

The Powership which is christened "Karadeniz Osman Khan" has an installed capacity of 470MW and is the second Powership deployed to Ghana.

In 2015, Karpowership deployed Karadeniz Powership Aysegul Sultan, with an installed capacity of 235MW and has since been supplying sustainable, reliable and affordable electricity to the national grid.

Speaking at the official ceremony to inaugurate the Powership CEO of Karpowership, Mr. Orhan Remzi Karadeniz said they have successfully completed all the requisite commissioning works, operational tests and has been supplying electricity to the national grid since October this year

He stated that Karpowership’s presence in Ghana is in complete fulfillment of the contractual obligations for providing 450MW of electricity to the Electricity Company of Ghana.

Mr. Karadeniz highlighted the company’s commitment to powering the world.

He said, “At Karpowership, we have invested in technology and innovation to ensure continuity of our ventures that indirectly demonstrates Turkey’s affinity for growth and development. Today, Turkey exports its value-added products and services in the energy, technology and entrepreneurship sectors.

Karpowership has crossed seas and offered the hand of friendship to supply electricity to many countries around the world that are in need of this basic necessity.”

Deputy Minister of Energy, Joseph Cudjoe, revealed that the Powership replaces the 225 megawatts powership, Karadeniz Powership Aysegul Sultan.

Mr. Cudjoe said the Osman Khan powership would be relocated to Takoradi to make use of gas from off the Cape Three points in the Western Region.

He indicated with Ghana’s power demand increasing by 10% annually, government will put up the necessary policies to ensure sustainable, accessible, reliable and affordable electricity.
