A member of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) Communications Team, Charles Owusu Cole believes the security agencies in the country especially the police will be proactive in dealing with the menace of land guard within a period of one month if they are being ordered by the President.
“Let the President order the security chiefs that in one month if they are not able to deal with the land guards menace they will be sacked, like we will see what would happen in this country,” he stated.
The outspoken PPP communicator alleged that top officials within the police service are behind these land guards, hence their inability to deal with them.
Speaking on Oman FM’s political analysis programme Boiling Point Charles Owusu who expressed frustration over the issue, said a lot of people in Greater Accra Region who have acquired lands genuinely are having sleepless night because of constant harassment by land guards.
“I heard the other day that the Operations Director of the Ghana Police Service went to Kasoa and they arrested some land guards. How come he got to know that they are at a certain area? It means they know where they are. We’re in a country where land guards keep terrorizing people and we are not doing anything about it all because top officials are behind these land guards,” he indicated.
Charles Owusu urged the President to be bold and tackle the land guards menace with the alacrity with which government has tackled galamsey activities to bring sanity in the system.
“I want to use your medium to let the President understand that land guards are terrorizing people in the country so the police and army should come together and deal with it to bring peace in the country,” he suggested.
