The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta has touted the achievements of the Akufo-Addo-led administration since they took power almost a year ago.

During the 2018 budget presentation in Parliament on Wednesday, the Minister said so far, they have achieved more than the previous administration did in the eight years that it governed the country.

“We have achieved under one year what seemed impossible in eight years,” he said.

Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta mentioned among other things the implementation of Free SHS policy, the payment of teachers and nurses trainee allowance, the Planting for Food and Jobs programme, the National Digital Addressing System and the

"We have achieved over all GDP of 7.8% of 2017 against 2.7% in 2016. We have reduced inflation ...end of October 2017 inflation of 11.6% from 15.4% in December 2017.

We have maintained stability of the cedi against the US dollar. We have brought down the policy rate to 21% from the peak of 26% in 2016. We have issued the country's maiden 15 year bold in April 2017. We have improved the gross International reserves to $7.2billion which is equivalent to 4.1months of imports cover," he added.

He pledged the commitment of government to doing everything possible to solidify "these gains for a long time as long as we remain manager of the economy."
