Gov't to recruit 100,000 graduates under Nation Builder's Corp

The Minister for Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, has revealed that government will in 2018 introduce what he described as "A Nation Builders Corp" programme to recruit more graduates into the public sector as part of efforts, to tackle youth unemployment in the country.
This new policy, he said, will offer jobs to about 100,000 youth next year.
To this end, an amount of GHC600million has been earmarked for it in the 2018 budget.
Ken Ofori-Atta made this known while deleivering the 2018 Budget statement and economic policy of the government on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, 15th October, 2017.
"The most critical economic problem of our time is youth unemployment, and in particular graduate unemployment. Available data from ISSER in March 2017 revealed that only 10% of graduates find jobs after their national service and they can take up to ten years for more graduate to find jobs.....we must as nation reverse this trend," he said.
"The programme will be a major government initiative to address livelihood empowerment and graduate unemployment to solve economic and social problems. The focus of this initiative will be to solving public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, santitation and drive revenue mobilization and collection at Ghana Revenue Authority(GRA)," he added.
According to him, graduates who will be recruited under the programme will be trained and equipped with the necessary tools and deployed across the country.
