The Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMC) is urging the National Petroleum Authority to close down all gas and petrol stations which are not ensuring compliance to safety regulations.
Vice president of the association Mr. Michael Bozumbil noted that members of the association are very committed to best safety practices because they understand that safety is paramount in the petroleum industry.
“AOMC is made of up operators who are committed to best practices. I’m talking about people who have agreed to doing things the way the association want,” he stated.
Speaking in an interview with Oman FM, Michael Bozumbil, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Petrosol, however noted that there are other fuel operators the NPA has issued with license to operate, but said these operators are non-compliant with safety regulations.
“….And so we want the regulator to rein in on them so that there will be sanity in the industry,” he advised.
He believes if the regulator bites very hard by using the standards assessment criteria, operators of fuel stations will be responsible by being compliant.
