3rd edition of Renewable Energy Fair opens in Accra (Photos)

The Deputy Minister for Energy in charge of Petroleum Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has opened the 3rd edition of Ghana Renewable Energy Fair in Accra.

The Fair which is under the theme, “Renewable Energy: An Engine for Distributed Wealth” is being organized by the Energy Commission (EC).

The three day Fair which is between Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th October, 2017, attracted about 46 local and international companies to exhibit their products.

Some of the participating companies are GRIDCo, Bui Power Authority, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Energizing Development, Africano Electro, Greenplus Touring Energy Africa (GTEA), Tino Solutions, Comsec Technology Solutions, Wilkins Engineering, Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Sun In, Abellon and Riepco Solar.

In a welcome address the Board Chairman of the Energy Commission Professor George Panyin Hagan, said the Commission is seeking to build on the successes of the first two Fairs and continue to increase awareness on the benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and its potential to contribute to social and economic development.

He outlined investment opportunities in the area of manufacturing and assembly of solar PV and balance of system components, waste to energy and biogas technologies, mini grid development for rural electrification and cultivation of woodlot plantations to meet the 39% energy demand for biomass sources.
