The Management of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has served notice to publish names of individuals including actors and actresses who have failed to pay loans they took from the Centre in the next two weeks

The decision, according to the current management, is aimed at retrieving millions of loans which were disbursed by the Centre during the previous National Democratic Congress, but were not repaid.

“God willing by the third week in October we are going to publish the names of those with large portfolios in the dailies and we will paste the list in the district with their photos and guarantors for the public to see that these are the characters whose actions are collapsing the country,” Deputy Executive Director of MASLOC Maame Afua Akoto said.

Speaking on Oman FM’s National Agenda on Thursday, Maame Afua Akoto said the names of the defaulters will be forwarded to the Attorney General for action to be taken against them.

She advised those in default to quickly settle their indebtedness if they do not want their names to be published in the media.

She further revealed that the Centre has also retrieved over 400 cars and tricycles in possession of some beneficiaries including Minority Members of Parliament and former government appointees who have refused to pay back.
