A staunch member of the Convention People's Party (CPP) Dr. Vladimir Antwi Danso has blamed late President Evans Fiifi Atta Mills for the controversy surrounding the founding father of Ghana.

According to him, it was wrong for late President Mills to institute founder's day in honour of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, explaining that Kwame Nkrumah was not the sole founder of Ghana.

Speaking on Oman FM's political analysis programme 'Boiling Point', Dr Antwi Danso said, "Some of us questioned the decision of President Mills at that time because we knew Nkrumah was not the sole founder father of Ghana, but the government didn't listen."

Dr. Vladimir Antwi Danso, who is the Director of Academic Affairs at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, asserted that late President Mills deliberately instituted founder's day to honour Dr Kwame Nkrumah because his motive was to lure CPP members to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He conferred with Speaker of Parliament Prof Aaron Mike Ocquaye that some leading members of the United Gold Coast Convention started the independent struggle before Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was invited to join them.

"People started the independent struggle before Dr Nkrumah came so how do you institute founder's day to honour one person?" he quizzed.

Dr. Vladimir Antwi Danso underscored the need for political history of Ghana to be put in a proper perspective such that George Paa Grant, Obetsebi Lamptey, JB Danquah, William Akufo-Addo, Arko Adjei and other members of UGCC are recognized as founding fathers.
