5 Robbers Jailed 30 Years Each.

The Ashaiman Circuit Court has sentenced five accused persons who were arrested and put before it by the Tema Regional Police Command to 30 years imprisonment each with hard labour.

The Court presided over by his Lordship Gabriel Mantey Teye found the suspects guilty for conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery, and accordingly sentenced them.

The convicts are Rashid Nurudeen, 20 (sprayer), Prince Tetteh Agonods, 18 (driver’s mate), Saviour Feda, 21 (unemployed), Francis Kwasi Warlorla, 18 (unemployed) and Kelvin Baah, 19(motor Rider).

According to the facts of the case as presented by the police, the convicted persons together with two others who are on the run, on June 1, 2016, at about 1.30am broke into a private residence in Atadeka, near Ashaiman, with a cement block and robbed them at gunpoint of, a 40” Samsung Flat Screen TV Set, One Laptop Computer, One Tablet Mobile Phone and other personal belongings.

The convicts, according to the police, also made away with an amount of GHC 600.00.

Intelligence gathered led police to the hide out of one Rashid Nurudeen who later led police to the hideouts of the other members of the gang.

A search conducted on them revealed one locally manufactured gun, which was concealed in the speakers of a sound system.

They were consequently arrested and charged with the offence of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Robbery and arraigned before Ashaiman Circuit Court presided over by his Lordship, Gabriel Mantey Teye on 8/8/2016.

In a related development, the Court also sentenced one Osumanu Ibrahim to 12 years in prison with hard labour for Robbery.

The police said on November 3, 2016, a complainant who was on an errand with an amount of GHC 4,500.00 given to him by his boss was accosted by five young men who with force snatched the money from him.

Police investigations led to the arrest of two suspects, Fiador Joseph and Kojo Acquah who are currently standing trial at same court.

They mentioned one Osmanu Ibrahim as one of their accomplice and led police to arrest him in his hideout at Ashaiman.

In the course of investigations, the convict was identified by complainant as one of his assailants.

In his caution statement, convict admitted to the offence and stated that his share of the booty was GHC 200.00.

The Ashaiman Circuit Court also sentenced one Gideon Obuobi, aged 20 years and Ebenezer Addo, aged 26 years to 2 years and 9 Months respectively, for the offence of Stealing.
