Boakye Agyarko Inaugurates Gas Mater Plan Committee

The Minister for Energy, Mr Boakye Agyarko, has inaugurated a nine member committee to ensure the successful implementation of Ghana’s Gas Master Plan.
The plan is a critical Road Map for the effective development of Ghana’s nascent gas industry.
It covers activities in the Upstream, Midstream and Downstream petroleum industry.

The committee is expected to ensure that both the plans and the enabling drivers along the entire value chain are implemented effectively and revised periodically for the development and sustainability of Ghana’s Gas Industry.
The mandate of the committee will be to coordinate the implementation of the specific recommendations of the plan, draft bills and regulations required for the management of the primary and secondary gas markets, review where necessary the Gas Master Plan to align it to the policy of government and to identify institutional overlaps and coordinate the institutional restructuring of the gas sub sector.

The committee which is chaired by the Deputy Minister in charge of Petroleum Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam include Acting CEO of Petroleum Commission Theo Ahwireng, CEO of GNPC, Dr. KK Sarpong, MD of TOR Isaac Osei, CEO Ghana National Gas Company Dr. Ben Asante, Director of Legal at Ministry of Energy, Anita Lokko, Director of Petroleum at the Ministry of Energy, Thomas Manu and Managing Director of BOST Alfred Obeng Boateng.
The Minister of Energy, Mr Boakye Agyarko, indicated that the vision of President Akufo-Addo administration for the oil and gas sector is anchored on three pillars.
This, he said, is increasing oil and gas production by attracting investments through the development of an enabling environment, increasing Ghanaian participation in the oil and gas industry as well as increasing value addition along oil and gas value chain.
Mr Boakye Agyarko charged the committee to execute its mandate well by meeting the expectation of government.
