Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has asked Ghanaians to give the government a breathing space and to put pressure on them barely six months in office.
Mr. Kufuor who was speaking in an exclusive interview with Oman News when a delegation from the International Democratic Union (IDU) paid a courtesy call on him urged Ghanaians to be patient with President Akufo-Addo.
"Let's be patient with the government," he said.
Asked what he makes of the six months into office of the President Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party government, Mr. Kufuor said, "To to be honest with you they are doing very well... the policies they putting in place are good.
“And so What I want to tell Ghanaians is that they should be patient with the government," he said.
Mr. Kufuor explained that it is not possible to turn an economy which was messed up by the previous administration in just six months hence the need to give the current government time to put in place measures to restore it.
"If you want to plant 10 acre cassava farm you first clear the land and plant but you don't plant it and harvest it at the same time, you wait for between 2 to 3 years. How much more a country like Ghana with a population of about 27 million?
