Tema Police Vows To Pursue Criminals With Deadly Weapons

The Tema Regional Police command has vowed to pursue criminals and land guards in and around Tema, who are in possession of fire arms to make the metropolis safer for residents.
The Regional Police Commander DCOP George Tuffuor gave the assurance on Wednesday following the killing of one "Dogo America", a man believed to have allegedly shot and killed Constable Michael Kporyi with the Rapid Deployment Force (RPF) on Monday evening.
Addressing a press conference attended by the Director General of CID COP Bright Oduro and Director General of Police Operations COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu, DCOP George Tuffuor noted that, there were many criminals in possession of several fire arms in places like Tema, Afienya, Appolonia, Ashaiman, Dawhenya, Gbetsile and Prampram.
"The Police Administration wishes to use this opportunity to assure the people of Ghana, particularly residents of Tema and its environs that it will not relent in its efforts to make the metropolis safe for law abiding citizens," he assured.
He added that" strategies are being outlined to pursue the other members of the gang of Dogo America."
"Dogo America" who was killed by the police on Tuesday at his hideout at Washington, a suburb of Kpone Katamanso District, is said to have been involved in several criminal acts and was on the police wanted list.
He was allegedly commanding “60 trigger happy” armed land guards who are in possession of deadly fire arms.


Four suspects were arrested and are currently assisting the police in their investigations.
Items retrieved by the police after the deceased was shot included A K47 Riffle, two Submarine Gun (SMG) Riffles, a dagger, a machete, a pair of plier, two screw drivers , a padlock with feathers believed to be a juju and 12 rounds of live ammunition.
