We’re Sorry For Nationwide Blackout-GRIDCO

The Director of System Operations at the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) Mark Baah has apologized to Ghanaians for black out witnessed in some parts of the country last Monday night.

“Let’s me use this opportunity to apologize to the people of Ghana for the blackout,” he said.

He explained that the blackout was as a result of a fault on transmission lines connecting the Western Power Enclave forcing all the generators in the enclave to shut down.

“It was due to a fault that occurred in the western power enclave specifically transmission lines that connect Cote D’voir.

The situation resulted in about 300 megawatts of power being lost from the national grid.

Speaking in an interview with Oman News on the sidelines of the ongoing Ghana Energy Summit Mr. Baah indicated that his outfit gets worried anytime there is power outage.

He noted that such situation cripple businesses and “as power transmitter entity we are in the business to serve our customers and so we get worried if there is interruption.”

“It affects industry, it affects the comfort of our customers especially take industry for example when there is power fluctuation it possibly affect production...so we want to ensure that power quality is maintained.”

Mr. Baah assured that his outfit is working hard to ensure that there is interrupted power transmission especially during the raining season.
