Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has assured the Zongo communities in the country that the Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party administration will not disappoint them.
He explained that the NPP government cares about the Moslems hence its decision to create Zongo Development Fund and subquently appointing a Minister in charge of Inner City and Zongo Development.
“We have earmarked GHC 219 million as a seed capital for Zongo Development Fund in the 2017 budget, and it is our hope that this money will be used to develop the Zongos once all the necessary legislations are completed,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
Dr. Bawumia gave the assurance when he joined Moslems in Ashaiman for Friday Prayers at the Ashaiman Central Mosque.
The vice president indicated that his visit to Ashaiman was to thank the Moslems for their support and prayers during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

“I was here with my team during the 2016 electioneering campaign and requested for your prayers and by the grace of the Almighty Allah, we won the elections, so it’s only proper that we come back and show appreciation to you and also to the Almighty Allah,” he said.
He urged them to use the Ramadan, which is starting from tomorrow (Saturday, May 27, 2017) to pray for the government so that it would be able to implement its programmes such as the free Senior High School (SHS) which is scheduled to begin in September.
The vice president donated GHC3, 000 to be used to renovate the Ashaiman Central, GHC1, 000 for special prayers for the government and GHC 1,000 to be shared among the tribal heads.

The vice president was accompanied by the Minister for Information Mustapha Hamid and Sheikh T.B Damba.
