The President nominee for the Tema Metropolitan Assembly Mr. Felix Mensah Nii Annang-La has been approved amid confusion.
The Assembly members were refusing to accept the results after voting ended.

46 out of the 47 Assembly members voted “yes” to approve the nominee with one spoilt ballot.
This development did not go down well with the Assembly members and insisted that the EC conduct the voting for the second time.

They argued that they had resolved to give the nominee 100% approval and therefore were not prepared to accept the results, which represented 97.8%.

The assembly members chanted “we want 100%” amid jubilation from supporters of the nominee.
After a back and forth for about 20 minutes on the issue, the Presiding Member of the Assembly Hon. Richard Fiadomor and Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Ishmael Ashittey finally instructed the EC to go ahead and declare the results.
There was heavy security presence.

In his acceptance the newly elected Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive expressed his gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity given him to serve the people of Tema.
Nii Annang-La who also commended the Assembly members for approving his nomination called for the collective effort of all the stakeholders to enable him to succeed.

He indicated his commitment to demonstrate exemplary leadership devoid of discrimination in executing the NPP’s government agenda of creating jobs and opportunities for all.
“I’m aware of the challenges facing the execution of our mandate as an assembly. However, I am optimistic that with a positive attitude and a renewed sense of purpose, guided by a well defined vision, we capable of surmounting the challenges confronting us,” he stated.
“The new TMA will explore and employ innovative ways of significantly enhancing revenue mobilization to enable us implement the government’s high impact development projects and initiatives,” Nii Annang-La stressed.

The TMA under his leadership, he said, will adopt proactive yet humane, measures to effectively curb the worsening menace of congestion and uncontrolled development which is gradually defacing the beauty of the industrial city.

He urged the residents of Tema to support his vision restoring Tema to its former glory.
