Assembly Members rejects Eugene Sackey

The Assembly Members at Upper West Akyem District Assembly in the Eastern Region have voted against President’s nominee Mr. Eugene SackeyOut of the 37 assembly members who were present to vote only 21 voted yes while the remaining 17 voted no, to reject his nomination.

The decision of the assembly did not go down well with the nominee and his supporters resulting in agitations at the assembly.

The supporters accused the NPP Constituency Chairman for the area Nana Obuobia Adae of masterminding the nominee’s disapproval.

They claimed that Nana Obuobia Adae was seen going rounds a day before the voting and dolling out monies to some of the assembly members to influence them to vote against the nominee.

It took the intervention of the police personnel who were there to provide security to save the situation.

The nominee was the ruling New Patriotic Party’s 2016 parliamentary candidate for the 2016, but lost his bid to become the Member of Parliament for the area.
