National Democratic Party (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ashaiman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey has urged assembly members of the Ashaiman Municipality, to massively endorse the President's nominee Mr. Albert Boakye Okyere, for the Municipal Chief Executive position.

He underscored the need for assembly members to be concerned about the development needs of the municipality which has been stalled, due to the absence of a substantive Municipal Chief Executive and endorse the nominee at the first round.
Until his nomination Mr. Albert Boakye Okyere was the 2nd Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Greater Accra region.

He was the first Municipal Chief Executive for Ashaiman when the erstwhile Kufuor administration carved Ashaiman Municipality out of Tema Metropolitan Assembly in 2008.
Hon. Ernest Norgbey, who expressed confidence in the capabilities and competencies of the nominee to deliver, said the President believes in the abilities of the nominee, adding that “I also believe that this man can move Ashaiman forward because he knows the challenges in Ashaiman since he had been there once.”
“I will urge my fellow assembly members to endorse the President’s nominee at the first round so that he becomes the MCE so that together we can develop Ashaiman,” he stated.

The MP was speaking to journalists during a Town Hall Meeting, which was themed, “Deeping citizen participation in governance” at Ashaiman.
The programme was attended by opinion leaders, queen mothers, tribal heads, the reagent of Ashaiman Nii Annang Adzor (I), former MCE of Ashaiman Numo Adinortey Addison, the executives of NDC and NPP and MCE nominee for Ashaiman Albert Boakye Okyere.
The MP used the programme to interact with his constituents and devise ways of addressing their concerns.
The constituents raised concerns about sanitation, drainage system, road network, education and traffic congestion in the town.
He pledged his commitment to partner the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly to address the challenges confronting his constituents to bring them relief.

On his part, Mr. Albert Boakye Okyere who is the MCE nominee for Ashaiman commended the MP for the initiative and pledged his commitment to work with him to tackle the challenges confronting the residents if he is endorsed by the assembly members.
