He has therefore asked persons who are aggrieved for not being nominated to that position to exercise restraint and not incite the youth to create chaos in their respective districts.

Supporters of the ruling party in Tolon, Zebila, Mpohor, Savelugu, Nanton, Sagnarigu and several other parts of the country hit the streets soon after the announcement Wednesday afternoon to demonstrate their anger at the choice of the President, arguing that some of the nominees did not actively campaign for then Flagbearer Nana Akufo during the 2016 election, while some other nominees lack the drive to help the youth.

In some instances MPs in some districts have had their lives threatened after they were accused of pushing through and foisting their favourite candidates on the people.

But John Boadu who played a critical role in the selection process insist a good job has been done as there were extensive consultations in the period of selection.

He added that those who are fortunate to have been nominated now cannot guarantee their stay in office after a year’s time.

“Several of them by a year’s time will be sacked. I’m sure that I’ll receive reports indicating that some of them must have underperformed, or had poor communication and relationship with party members and throwing their weight about in their respective areas, while other may have issues with chiefs or disrespect them. With such matters if established we cannot continue to keep such MMDCEs in office. So if someone is not nominated now, it doesn’t mean that is the end of the world, another chance may come.”

He added: “I’m going to make a list of those who equally deserved MMDCE positions but for one reason or the other couldn’t get them and ensure they are fixed elsewhere which is also dignified. We’re not going to be unfair to persons who worked tirelessly for the party’s victory in the 2016 election. No one should have hard feelings, patience in such times is very necessary. Whoever will be responsible for attacks on any property will not get any appointment.”

The Acting General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu is confident that several Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) will lose their jobs by a year’s time.
