We’ll create alternative routes to ease traffic congestion in Tema Newtown-Dep. Transport Minister

Deputy Minister of Transport Hon. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus- Glover has assured the chiefs and people of Tema Newtown that government will undertake massive road expansion work and create alternative routes to the Central Business District of Tema.

The deputy minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Tema East was hopeful the alternative routes will ease vehicular congestion on the only road linking Newtown to the Tema Central Business.

He indicated that the $1million(4million CEDI's) which had been earmarked for Tema East Constituency in fulfillment of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign promise would be used to fund the projects, adding that parts of the money would also used to roll out policies and programme to improve the living standards of his constituent.

Hon. Titus-Glover gave the assurance when Tema Traditional Council (TTI) led by Tema Mantse Nii Adjei Kraku (II) visited his residence to congratulate him for his appointment.

MP3 as he is affectionately called noted that education is of paramount interest to him and thus has spent a chunk of his MP’s Common Fund to sponsor a number of students in both secondary and tertiary level.

"I spent about 1.6billion CEDI's of my MPs Common Fund between 2015 and 2016 to pay for the fees of brilliant but needy students,” he said.

He stressed that he will continue in that direction in order to produce more graduates in the constituency.

He hinted of plans to a project to train the youth in technical and vocational skills.

Touching on the visit by the chiefs Titus Glover described the visit as a fruitful one.

He thanked the Tema Traditional Council for pledging their support for him and also promising to engage him if the need be.

Nii Adjei Kraku (II) on behalf of the Traditional Council congratulated Hon Titus Glover his appointment and advised him to be of good behaviour in order not to dent their image and the reputation of president Nana Akufo-Addo.

Touching on the appointment of the Municipal Chief Executive of Tema, he said, the council wish an indigene will be appointed however he said the council welcome whoever the President would nominate and work with him.
