Exercise Restraint on the roads during Easter-- -BPS

As part of its effort to ensure that this year's Easter festivities is incident free, the
Bureau of Public Safety(BPS) has urged all motorists to exercise maximum
restraint on the roads, be considerate to other road users, and at all times be in
compliance to all driving regulations.
A statement signed by the Director of Research and Advocacy of Bureau of Public
Safety Etornam Korda also urged all passengers who will be traveling across the
country to speak out and report reckless driving to the police.
The statement further called on all revelers to be mindful of their environment and
apply themselves to safety and security regulations pertaining at all recreational
areas.
BPS noted that the Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) remain the number one public
safety threat facing Ghana indicating that Ghana records over thirty-one (31) daily
with 40 lives being lost on weekly basis.
“With no drastic and significant action taken by the State to address the menace of
RTCs, the Bureau wishes to urge all motorists to exercise maximum restraint on
the roads, be considerate to other road users, and at all times be in compliance to
all driving regulations,” the statement said.
The Bureau of Public Safety also called on the police to continue to be visible
on the highways and intersections as well as extend that visibility deep into the
residential communities and recreational areas in order to maintain
the peace, safety and security of people going about life legitimately.
