Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West Constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Nenyi George Andah has paid a visit to the three pupils of Redemption School Complex who got injured when a school block collapsed on them.

The building adjacent to the school, located at Ofadaa a suburb of Awutu Bawjiase collapsed in the early morning of Thursday. The pupils were playing football and their ball entered the building, and in an attempt to retrieve the ball the building collapsed on them, fortunately many of the children managed to escape unhurt.

Hon. George Andah during the visit interacted with the victims and their families, and wished them speedy recovery.

The MP who is known for his philanthropic gestures made a donation to support their daily upkeep and their medical expenses.

He commended the teachers and staff of Bawjiase Health Centre for the urgency with which they responded to the victims to ensure that their lives were saved.

He called on the Police and the Assembly to investigate how the classroom block was constructed without a building permit which collapsed and nearly caused deaths to avoid similar incident in the future.

Hon. George Andah got the shock of his life when he visited the school to assess the condition of the school building and also get first hand of information about the extent of damage.

He could not fathom why the pupils who are future leaders were studying under horrible and despicable conditions.

He noted the school had no desk in most of the classrooms and this has compelled the pupils to sit on stones and wood to study.

"My heart was broken, as I saw the conditions that over 400 of our future leaders at the Ofadaa Redemption School Complex, have to study in."

"As the current MP, it is part of my responsibility to God and Country, to catalyze the provision of better living conditions for our people," he assured.

He pledged his commitment to support to collaborate with the Assemblyman for the area and proprietor of the private school, (which is the only facility providing education in the community), District Education Directorate and the District Assembly, to bring relief to these pupils, who are in dire need of a safe and comfortable learning environment.
