There is no hostility among EC commissioners-Yussif Ayuba

The Electoral Commission (EC) has disputed Parliament’s Special Budget Committee’s report that there is a leadership crisis at the commission between its Chairperson and other members.

Majority Leader Osei-Kyei Mensah Bonsu who chairs the Special Budget Committee stated on the floor of the House Tuesday that his committee had observed deep-seated mistrust among members of the commission.

He thus recommended an open and transparent relationship at the commission to build bridges between leadership in the interest of the state.

But Deputy Head of Communications at the EC, Yussif Ayuba in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM refuted those claims, insisting there is a cordial working relationship among members of the commission.

“It came to us as a surprise. We’ve been working with our chairperson, with all members of the commission and so therefore I don’t know where this is coming from. The commission has a very good working relationship. There is a structure headed by the chairperson of the commission, with other two deputies who are permanent and four other members of the commission and they’ve been working cordially among themselves. Last two weeks they had a meeting, all of them were there.

Currently as I speak they are in the Brong Ahafo region monitoring the Platform for the outstanding District Level Elections. So I’m stating emphatically that what I know is that there is a very cordial relationship.
