Paul Ansah of GPHA laid father to rest

The Director General of the Ghana Port and Harbours Authority(GPHA) Mr. Paul Asare Ansah, on Saturday interred the mortal remains of his father late Opanyin Lawrence Okrah Ansah at his Aboasa in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.

Late Opanyin Lawrence Okrah Ansah died at the age of 96, after a short illness at the Koforidua Government Hospital on 14th October, 2016.

He was survived by seven children; five females and two males.

Until his death, late Opanyin Lawrence Okrah Ansah worked as a stenographer secretary of Public Works Department in Accra, CPP Constituency secretary in the then Kaoga District of the Eastern Region, Clerical Officer of the defunct Juapong Textile Company and later Secretary of the Aboasa Town Development Committee.

The burial service was attended by captains in the maritime industry, politicians, academia, pastors and members of the Ghana Journalists Association.

Some of the dignitaries present at the burial service were former Director of Tema port, Jacob Adorkor, CEO of Meridian Port Services (MPS) Mohammed Samara; Managing Director of Amaris Terminal, Alex Atakorah; General Secretary of Maritime and Dock Workers Union, Daniel Owusu Koranteng; Executive Secretary of Importers and Exporters Sampson Asaki Awingobit; representatives of Nigerian Port Authority, and President of Ghana Journalist Association Dr. Roland Affail Monney.

In a tribute read by Mr. Paul Asare Ansah, on behalf of the children, he described late Opanyin Lawrence Okrah Ansah as someone who was a symbol of faith, discipline, love, kindness and will power.

"He was a strong disciplinarian who never spared the rod when he felt the need to crack the whip," he stated.

The late Opanyin Lawrence Okrah Ansah was very friendly and did not bear anyone grudge before he passed away.

"Our father had no place in his heart for bitterness, or grudge. We don't remember and day that he visited the hospital and whenever he was asked about the secret of his good health, his response was that his heart was clean by forgiveness and a positive mind set," Mr. Asare Ansah indicated.

"Our father believed that once he had no evil thoughts about anybody, nobody could harm him and no fear for anybody,” he added.

Mr. Asare Ansah expressed the gratitude of the children to their late father for the seed of resilience he sowed in them.
