The Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has made a startling revelation of how Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, younger brother of former President Mahama has defrauded the state of almost 14million cedis.

The maverick politician cum business man accused Ibrahim Mahama of taking advantage of the position of his brother and perpetuating criminal activities against the state.

Akompreko as he is affectionately called said, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama became so powerful in the John Mahama led National Democratic Congress administration that he was like the vice president and was doing whatever he felt like doing.

Speaking on Oman FM’s political analysis programme “Boiling Point” on Thursday, he explained that Ibrahim Mahama between November and December, 2015 issued about 7 cheques bearing different amounts to the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority(GRA) at the Tema Port to clear some heavy duty equipments he had imported.

He said Ibrahim Mahama put pressure on the custom officers and had all the goods cleared for him on a Friday.

He said after the transaction the GRA officials presented the cheques at the Ecobank on Monday in a bid to clear the money into their accounts, but all the cheques bounced.

The outspoken Assin Central MP who is in the possession of all the copies of the cheques indicated that, the bank drew Ibrahim's attention to it, but said Ibrahim has since not paid the money.

“As we speak Ibrahim has not paid the money so this should tell you that he did it deliberately,” he stated.

Agyapong who went berserk over the development stated that he will make sure that Ibrahim is jailed for allegedly defrauding the state.

“I have evidence to suggest that he did not pay duties on all the vehicles he imported,” he alleged.

According to him, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama has confirmed to somebody that the cheques indeed did not clear.

“From a reliable source Ibrahim Mahama has admitted that what I have said is true but his explanation is that government owes him,” he indicated.
