A pro-government group Mass Action for Nana Addo has charged president Akufo -Addo to appoint more people from the Ashanti Region into his administration.
Although the group acknowledged the appointments of a number of Members of Parliament from the party's stronghold to key ministerial positions, they argued there are more capable party members from Ashanti Region who should be considered for appointments.
A statement signed by the executives of the group,Friday, listed a number of party functionaries including Dr Amoako Tuffour,Samuel Pyne,Justice Kodua Frimpong, Dr.Nsia Asare and Hon Henry Hwabena Kokofu who should be appointed.
"We sincerely believe that their competence and conviction will bring Ghana back on track once again," the group said.
Below is the full statement
MASS ACTION FOR NANA ADDO SUPPORT CALLS FOR MORE APPOINTMENTS TO BE MADE FROM THE ASHANTI REGION.
We take this opportunity to congratulate the President and his Vice, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia respectively for ascending to the highest office of the land on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.
We sincerely believe that their competence and conviction will bring Ghana back on track once again.
But this notwithstanding, (The Mass Action for Nana Addo) want to add its voice to the numerous good calls, that some persons should be considered for appointments. This is because we strongly believe that once such personalities are sorted out, the grassroot in the strong hold of the party is sorted.
Apart from the competence and qualifications of such persons to handle appointments in any of the various sectors, they diligently worked to ensure a resounding victory in the December 7 polls both in and outside the region.
From an earlier release by Moro Kabore and i quote:
"Appointing a person to public office should not and never be based on how effective his or her lobbying skills is or who he or she knows somewhere, No! It should rather be on merit and it should be the responsibility of the party to get this done without much hassle"
Below are some of the persons (not in any special order) that readily comes to mind, which have already been mentioned in the media;
1. Mr Akwasi Kyei - Ashanti regional communication's Director 2. Justine Kodua Frimpong - Regional Youth Organiser 3. Dr. Nsia Asare - Former CEO of KATH 4. Stephen Amoah (Sticker) - AG Regional Organizer
5. Mr. Samuel Pyne - Regional Secretary
6.Mr. Opoku Mensah (Omens) Communications member
7. HON. Henry Kwabena Kokofu - former MP Bantema
8 Hon. Alidu Siedu (Former parliamentary candidate, Asawase)
9. Hon. Elizabeth Agyeman - former MP Oforikrom.
10. Emmanuel Adu Amankwah - (TESCON KNUST PATRON)
11. Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah.
12. Mr Ayesi Boateng.
13. Dr Amoako Tuffour.
14. Dr. Kingsley Nyarko - Legon TESCON Patron
17. Dr. Abdul Rauf - Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman.
18. Moro Kabore -Ashanti Regional Communication Member
The list goes on and on.
Apart from consolidating the party's efforts in the next elections, if appointed, it will also Alley the fears of growing despondency among the rank and file in the region.
We humbly call on the President to take our plea into serious consideration.
