A communication team Member of the governing New Patriotic Party in the Northern Region Mr Illiasu Abubakar has revealed that about six state vehicles have been hidden in a hotel in Tamale by a certain Gonja man who worked in previous National Democratic Congress administration.
"There is a hotel in Tamale where about six of the state vehicles have been parked," he claimed.
Mr. Illiasu Abubakar who wouldn't immediately disclose the location of the said hotel indicated that he was currently monitoring the situation, adding that he would give details of the vehicles and name those behind it at the appropriate time.
Over 200 state vehicles have gone missing following the changed in government during the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.
It has emerged that appointees of the previous National Democratic Congress administration purchased some of the vehicles at a cheaper price while some have also stolen a number of them.
The development has forced the governing New Patriotic Party to set up a task force to retrieve all the stolen state vehicles.
Speaking on Oman FM's political analysis show "Boiling Point" Tuesday, Mr Abubakar claimed that even former government officials who bought their official vehicles paid only Ghc1,500 for a vehicle that valued thousands of US dollars.
He accused former president Mr John Dramani Mahama and his appointees for stealing state resources to enrich themselves.
He labeled the previous administration as a cabal of corrupt politicians who did not have the interest of the nation at heart.
Mr. Illiasu Abubakar expressed disgust at the opposition National Democratic Congress for planning to stage a demonstration on February 24, 2017 against NPP, claiming that they are being harassed by the ruling party.
He charged supporters of the governing New Patriotic Party not to entertain NDC members by rising against them.
