The Minister designate for Greater Accra Region Mr. Ishmael Ashitey has assured of his commitment to ensure fairness in dealing with members of the various political divide in the region if he is approved.
Mr. Ishmael Ashitey, who is the Greater Accra Regional chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party, explained that he had no intention of discrimanating against anyone because of his or her political affiliation.
Answering questions when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Mr. Ashitey said, he will work for everyone in the region so he could win them to his party.
"Most of my friends are from the NDC. I will always want to win an election so my opponents should be my friends so I can win them to my side."
"I'm going to work for everybody. I mean whether you are from the NDC, CPP etc you can be rest assured that you will be treated fairly so that you will see the good work NPP is doing and join us", he added.
Asked whether he would work to sabotage NDC MPs by making sure that their Common Fund was delayed by the various MMDAs Mr. Ashitey responded in the negative.
He said he wouldn't allow any Metropolitan, Municipal or District Chief executive in the region to withhold any Fund due to opposition MPs because of his unpalatable experience in the past.
" I wouldn't allow that to happen in my capacity as a Regional Minister. If the MP is entitled to that money it should be given him or her. I suffered it before and I know how unpalatable it was so I wouldn't do that, " he assured.
