The Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore in the Ashanti Region Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie has proposed to the new administration to set up a Special Committee of inquiry to investigate heads of the various state agencies who were appointed by the immediate past NDC administration.
Dr. Nana Afriyie, who accused the immediate past Mahama administration of looting state resources said most of these heads engaged in shady deals hence should be investigated and punished to deter officials of the New Patriotic Party administration from doing same.
"There should be a Special Committee of inquiry to investigate the outgoing heads of various ministries, agencies and departments,” he suggested.
Speaking on Oman FM's Political Analysis programme Boiling Point Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie underscored the need for the New Patriotic Party administration to take the bull by the horn by using legal means to punish officials of the previous administration who embezzled state funds.
“Anybody who embezzled state funds during the previous administration should be made to face the full rigours of the law. It doesn’t matter whether the person is related to the former President, the former first lady or a prominent chief in the country. We should go after them.”
Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie warned that failure of the government to hold corrupt officials of the previous administration accountable would spell doom for the government saying “Ghanaians will not forgive NPP if they fail to retrieve all the monies which were paid to some individuals in the name of judgment debts.”
He urged government to introduce stringent measures to check mismanagement of the nation's resources.
