The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tema Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region has called on the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, to halt alleged ongoing recruitment of staff and illegal payments to some individuals as the governing party will exit power in barely a fortnight's time.

At a press conference in Tema, the Constituency Chairman of the party Charles Boateng advised the MCE to tread cautiously regarding any decision he takes, assuring him that the incoming NPP administration would review them and punish wrongdoers.

"We have heard that TMA is recruiting new staff and also making payments to some individuals and we think it's not right. We are, therefore, telling the MCE to stop those moves immediately or when we take over power after January 7, 2017, we will review all those decisions and those who will be found culpable, will be dealt with.

"As for the reviewing of recruitment and payments, I can assure you that we are going to do it," he emphasized.

Charles Boateng said he could not fathom why the TMA boss could not do the recruitment of new staff but decided to that now after his party had lost the elections.

He said Mr. Odamtten was deliberately undertaking the recruitment of new staff to put strings on the Assembly's finances so that things would be difficult for the incoming NPP administration.

He said the incoming NPP administration was not against offering job opportunities to the unemployed; however, he explained that the party was against the deliberate move by the outgoing government that had put a freeze on employment for the past three years because of its agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

"They are just trying to sabotage us but we won't allow it," he stressed.

Touching on the just ended presidential and parliamentary elections, Charles Boateng noted that the party improved significantly on the 2012 results.

He said the party increased the presidential results from 59% in 2012 to 68%, representing an increase of 9%.

"We haven't won in all the 99 polling station in the Tema Central constituency before, but this year, we won in all the polling station and our votes appreciated," he noted.

Charles Boateng commended the party's constituency executives and the polling agents for being loyal and working very hard by returning the party to power.
