The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has cautioned would be appointees of the incoming Nana Akufo-Addo administration against exhibiting arrogance and opulence lifestyle.
According to him, the party embarked on laborious campaigning and also endured pain before winning power and will therefore not countenance on any acts which may destroy the government and urged those with such lifestyles to shelve them immediately.
“We went through a lot to win this election. We went to prayer camps. We went to many places. There were others who sacrificed by fasting for us to be able to win the elections.”
“Let it not be said that NPP appointees displayed vulgar opulence and arrogance while in government.
Let’s not be arrogant in dealing with the people who voted us into power,” Sammy Awuku stated.
Speaking on Oman FM’s National Agenda, on Monday, Mr. Sammy Awuku warned that the party would not sit down for persons who did not contribute to the party’s victory in the election to repeat the mistakes of the NDC’s appointees resulting to their defeat in the elections.
He argued that the outgoing National Democratic Congress (NDC) government suffered a massive defeat in the December 7 polls because of sheer arrogance, corruption and opulence which were exhibited by the appointees of President John Mahama.
“We shouldn’t forget that Ghanaians were angry with NDC and voted them out of power because of corruption, arrogance and opulence lifestyle of the government appointees,” he said.
Sammy Awuku underscored the need for those who would be fortunate to be appointed in Nana Akufo-Addo’s government to emulate the president elect by being moderate in their lifestyle.
He said Ghanaians would reject the New Patriotic Party in the next elections if appointees of Nana Addo repeat the mistakes of officials of the NDC government.
