A former National Vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Stephen Ntim has advised members of the party to desist from stampeding President elect, Nana Akufo-Addo, with names of people who should be appointed into positions.
He cautioned the party against putting an undue pressure on Nana Akufo-Addo ahead of his ministerial appointments.
He underscored the need for the party to give him breathing space to appoint people he feels are experienced and competent to deliver on the party’s campaign promises.
“Nana Addo has been Member of Parliament and Minister so he knows a lot of people from within the party and their capabilities and potentials. So let’s leave him alone to select those who will be ministers, ambassadors, and Municipal and District Chief Executives base on their capabilities,” he suggested.
Speaking in an interview with Oman News Mr. Stephen Ntim charged members of the party not to rush for appointments and rather contribute their quota to build a strong and a formidable party.
He warned that the party could go back into opposition after four years in government if the members of the party focus too much on positions without building a strong support base.
“While we are focusing on governing the country we also have to focus on building our party else we will give room for our opponents to defeat us in the next elections,” he stressed.
Mr. Stephen Ntim urged Ghanaians to have faith in the incoming Nana Akufo-Addo administration to deliver on its campaign promises.
