Akufo –Addo’s gov’t will go after state ‘looters’-Boakye Agyarko

The Policy Advisor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Boakye Agyarko has indicated that the incoming Nana Akufo-Addo administration will go after officials of the NDC government and civil servants who have embezzled state funds.

He said the incoming administration would ensure that state resources which had been illegally taken by officials of NDC administration are retrieved into state coffers.

Mr. Boakye Agyarko claimed that information available to the NPP indicates that officials of the NDC had since the party’s defeat in last week Wednesday elections were engaging in what he described as last minutes stealing of state funds.

He therefore warned such government officials to be mindful of their actions since they would be made to face the full rigours of the law.

“When the time comes we will take steps to deal with all those who have embezzled state funds and when we are doing it nobody should say that we are witch hunting them,” he stated.

Speaking on Oman FM’s political analysis programme “Boiling Point” on Tuesday Mr. Agyarko stated that the party would scrutinize all the documents which would be handed over to the party by the Transitional Team.

“We are going to scrutinize every single document which will be handed over to us because we have heard a lot about how government is rushing to award contracts and also recruiting people into the various government agencies,” he said.

“When we identify any criminal acts we will deal with such matters not as a matter of witch hunting, but as a matter of giving justice to Ghanaians.

Mr. Agyarko assured Ghanaians of Nana Akufo-Addo’s readiness to use the laws to deal with those who misappropriated state funds.
