NDC’s claim of NPP supporters attacking them are false-Sammy Awuku

The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party Sammy Awuku is accusing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of deliberately plotting the alleged attacks on its supporters in some parts of the country by the NPP.

Sammy Awuku believes the leadership of NDC orchestrated the alleged attacks on its supporters to portray the NPP as a violent party.

“I suspect a foul play in this issue of our supporters allegedly attacking NDC supporters,’’ he said.

There have been reports of some NPP supporters attacking NDC supporters following NDC’s defeat in the December 7 polls.

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Monday, the National Youth Organizer of NDC Mr. Siidi Abubakar, who accused NPP of attacking their supporters, indicated that supporters of the party will be forced to react if attacks on them are not curtailed by the security agencies.

“The attacks on our supporters…should nothing continue to be done by the president-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo, and the NPP leadership to immediately put a stop to the unprovoked and uncivilized physical attacks on our supporters, we the NDC youth will not fold our arms while our people are attacked violently. We shall henceforth reply in equal measure whenever we are attacked by NPP supporters. A tooth for a tooth, an arm for an arm,” he declared.

According to him, “the NDC is able and very capable of causing lots of chaos and confusion if the NPP continues to attack our members. We are also calling on the Ghanaian media that also supported the rigging of the elections to openly condemn what the NPP thugs are doing.”

But responding to the allegations on Oman FM’s National Agenda on Tuesday, Sammy Awuku, described the claims by the NDC that its supporters are being attacked by the NPP supporters as false and complete fabrication.

“I dispatched the youth coordinators in the party to all the regions and particularly, the areas NDC claimed its supporters were being attacked to ascertain for themselves and report back, and the feedback was that there have not been any such attacks on NDC supporters by our supporters. So this is a grand scheme by NDC to portray NPP as violent,’’ he stated.

Sammy Awuku who expressed disappointment in the NDC Youth Organizer for embarking on what he described as propaganda challenged him to substantiate his claim with evidence, if the attacks indeed happened.

He questioned why the security services especially the police have not been able to arrest NPP supporters who allegedly attacked NDC supporters and prosecute them if the reports were true.
