Ken Agyapong exposes EC’s plan to rig 2016

The Electoral Commission has allegedly backtracked on its decision not to transmit the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections results electronically.

The commission had also cancelled its initial plan to display both presidential and parliamentary results on giant screen in all the 275 constituencies and also at the National Collation Centre at the Independence Square.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region Hon Kennedy Agyapong revealed this on Oman FM's political analysis programme "Boiling Point" on Thursday.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission about two months ago announced at the Inter Party Advisory committee (IPAC) that the commission would no longer transmit the results electronically as planned earlier.

She said instead the collated results from the various constituencies would be scanned and faxed to the National Collation Centre in Accra.

But Hon Kennedy Agyapong has claimed that he has possession of a document from the EC which suggests that the commission had changed its decision not to transmit the results electronically.

The commission, according to Kennedy Agyapong, has clandestinely awarded contract to STL Company for the transmission of the elections results without the knowledge of the political parties contesting the elections.

He added that STL had already deployed some of its staff across the country ahead of the December 7 elections.

The outspoken Assin Central MP who accused the chairperson of the Electoral of Commission Madam Charlotte Osei of conniving with the NDC to rig the elections also revealed that NDC had thumb printed ballot papers into 750 boxes with the intention of swapping it with the official ballot boxes after close of polls.
