The Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwame Bafo popularly known as Abronye DC has served notice that supporters of the party will rise up in what he described as a revolution against any national officer of the party who will sign this year’s “Peace Accord.”
The Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG) and National Peace Council have invited all the political parties contesting this year’s election to attend the signing of a “Peace Accord” ahead of the December 7 polls at the University of Ghana, Legon on Wednesday.
The rationale behind the “Peace Accord” programme is to provide the platform for all the political parties to pledge their commitment towards peaceful elections.
But speaking on Oman FM’s Political Analysis programme “Boiling Point” Kwame Bafo who raised objection to the “Peace Accord” said he would personally rally supporters of the NPP to deal with any national executive member of the party who would attend the programme.
“Any NPP leader whether Mr. Freddie Blay (the Chairman), Sammy Awuku (the Youth Organiser), John Boadu (General Secretary) and Mr. Abankwa Yeboah (the Treasurer) or any NPP elder who attends the programme will be dealt with in a revolutionary manner. We will fight the person and kick him or her out of office,” he stated.
Kwame Bafo, who spoke in an angry tone, urged the leadership of the party to resist the temptation to sign this year’s peace accord.
“We don’t have to allow these organizations to push us to sign this bogus peace accord when our supporters are being attacked left and right,” he said.
He argued that signing the peace accord by the party would amount to signing a “dead warrant’ of its supporters.
Kwame Bafo expressed disgust at the chairman of the National Peace Council Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante for failing to condemn NDC supporters who have been instigating violent attack on NPP supporters.
Kwame Bafo accused Rev. Emmanuel Asante of being a hypocrite alleged that the leadership of National Peace Council had refused to condemn NDC supporters over the recent because they have been offered brand new Land Cruisers by the government.
