Four Ghanaians have dragged The Ghana Police Service, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), to court to compel them to arrest one Abdulai Naaba, a brother of the Local Government Minister, Alhaji Collins Dauda.

Abdulai Naaba allegedly confessed on Accra-based Atinka FM few weeks ago that he had been committing murder and threatened to kill any opposition NPP member who verbally assaults him.

The four applicants; Mohammed Bashiru, Zac Rahman, Sulemana Aliu and Joseph Manu, want the police to take action.

One of the applicants, Mohammed Bashiru, who spoke to the media lamented that, the police’s handling of the matter, has allowed the minister’s brother to walk free because of his relation to the Minister.

“The way Naaba is portraying himself, if you are related to a Minister, you can kill, you can maim, you can attack, you can do whatever you want and get away with it. Who knows who Naaba and his group will kill next?”

“We want the police to take action. Somebody cannot just come on radio and say that I have killed, and the police will just leave the person to get away with it. In a democratic dispensation, in a country like Ghana governed by laws, I don’t think this should happen.”

Outlining the applicants’ demands, Mr. Bashiru said, “We want the court to instruct either of them or all of them to take action and arrest and prosecute Naaba Abdulai, the brother of Honorable Collins Dauda.”
