The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Ashaiman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Alhaji Labaran Yakubu Barry, has charged residents of Ashaiman to vote massively for him and the party’s flag-bearer Nana Akufo-Addo in the upcoming December 7 polls for jobs and prosperity.

According to him, Ashaiman would witness massive transformation in terms of infrastructural developments and job opportunities under an NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as vice president.

Alhaji Yakubu Barry indicated that he would be implementing a number of programmes and interventions alongside Nana Addo’s One-District-One Factory, Zongo Development Fund, Free SHS policies and other social intervention programmes to improve on the living conditions of the people of Ashaiman.

He disclosed that Nana Akufo–Addo had planned to establish what he called National Hydraulic Authority which would see all major storm drains across the country being dredged to end the perennial flooding in the country.

Ashaiman Jericho is a flood-prone area and Alhaji Labaran said Nana Addo's intervention would take care of the situation.

Alhaji Labaran Yakubu Barry gave the assurance when he donated 100 bags of cement and 1,000 exercise books to Chief Alhassan Memorial Islamic School (CHAMISCO) at Jericho to complete the construction of the school's project and also improve academic performance of the students.

He explained that the gesture was in fulfillment of a promise he made to the school during its 20th anniversary celebration in August this year.

CHAMISCO, he said, had been performing very well academically and as a community school for Moslems in the municipality, there was the need for him to support them to expand their infrastructural facilities.

According to him, the gesture was a symbol of commitment his flag-bearer Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo would show to improve on the needs of the educational sector should Ghanaians vote him on December 7.

Alhaji Yakubu Barry, who charged the residents of Ashaiman to reject President Mahama and NDC's parliamentary candidate Ernest Norgbey, indicated that the gesture was not aimed at scoring any political points ahead of the elections.

“If that was my intention, I would have branded the exercise books I donated to the pupils just as the NDC parliamentary candidate Ernest-Henry Norgbey, did,” he observed.

On his part, the headmaster of CHAMISCO Mr. Albert Atsu promised to put to use the purpose for which the items were donated.

He said the school had opened its arms and would welcome a similar gesture from philanthropists and corporate organizations.

The NPP's parliamentary candidate and his team, after the donation, embarked on house-to-house campaign to canvass votes for himself and Nana Akufo-Addo.

Interacting with the residents and explaining the NPP's policies to them, he said, "The NPP represents the hope of Ashaiman and Ghana."

In a related development one of the elders of the NPP in Ashaiman constituency and CEO of John Sey Company, Mr. John Gasper Annan has provided the party with a fully furnished office at Christian village to enable the party to coordinate its political activities in the constituency ahead of the polls.
