President John Mahama has asserted that there is nothing like magic hovering around which conjures money into people’s pockets over night.

He has thus asked those who are complaining about lack of money in their pockets to find job to do to in order to earn.

“The fact of life is that you can only have money in your pocket if you work and earn. And so there is no magic to put money into people’s pockets. That is why government is investing as much as it is investing to try and provide our people with the skills that they need to enter the world of work.

“If you sit at home and you don’t take advantage of the opportunities money is not going to magically come and appear in your pocket or nobody will come into your house and he say put this money into your pocket,” he stressed.

According to him, opportunities are being created by government and with the economy growing fast it should be opening jobs for those who take advantage of it.

Speaking on the national broadcaster GTV’ Evening Encounter’ Wednesday, he said government is reviving dead companies to give jobs to the youth.

Mr Mahama said a lot of government investment is going into the productive sector of the economy so what can be produced locally is done to provide jobs.

Graduate unemployment

According to the President, he has charged the tertiary institutions to introduce more guidance and counseling so the young people know about the job prospects especially in the area that they are studying.

“There was saturation in some profession than the economy can take, President Mahama said, adding that those who took such professions won’t have ready jobs once they finish their education.

He charged that as the economy grows new areas like oil and gas, engineering, Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
