The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary (NPP) candidate for Ashaiman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region Alhaji Labaran Yakubu Barry has challenged national executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop coming to Ashaiman to campaign since the party is sure of winning convincingly in the upcoming general elections.
He said the Greater Accra Regional chairman of the NDC Mr. Ade Coker claimed the ruling party had done a lot for the people of Ashaiman and so even if the party decorated a fowl in NDC colours and presented it as parliamentary candidate in Ashaiman, the party woul still win.
According to Alhaji Yakubu Barry, he had expected the NDC to sleep, after the party’s chairman made those remarks.
He, therefore, wondered why the General Secretary of NDC Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketsia and other executives of the party have been paying regular visits to Ashaiman to campaign.

“Why can’t NDC sleep if they are confident of retaining the seat?” he quizzed.
He argued that the party was aware that they were losing hold of Ashaiman constituency, stressing that the NDC was adopting strategies to save the situation.
“If the NDC believe the grounds are good for them to retain the seat, why will President John Dramani Mahama and his vice Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur come to Ashaiman to campaign? Why will the Greater Accra Regional Chairman Ade Coker also come to Ashaiman more than three times to campaign? Why did Asiedu Nketsia also come to Ashaiman to address a rally at Mandela Park and made several appeals to the electorates to vote for the NDC and said he will force me out of Ashaiman?” Alhaji Yakubu Barry asked.
Addressing party supporters on Sunday during the inauguration of pro- opposition groups ‘Royal Club’ and ‘Coalition to Elect Nana Addo and Bawumia (CENAB)’ in Ashaiman, Alhaji Yakubu Barry promised a resounding victory for the NPP on December 7 polls.
He stated that his party would take over the seat from the ruling NDC in spite of all the strategies and schemes the NDC had planned to implement before and during the elections.
“I’m challenging NDC to implement all their strategies and schemes, but I can promise them that their effort will be in vain because we are going to take the seat from them,” he assured.
He reminded the people of the Ashaiman about the plans and programmes of the next NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo.

He mentioned the Zongo Development Fund, one District-one factory, as well as one million dollars seed fund to be allocated to each constituency every year.
He said when the previous NPP administration led by President John Agyekum Kufuor was leaving office they concluded a process for the building of general hospital for the people of Ashaiman to cater for the health needs of the residents, but said, the ruling NDC had abandoned the plan.
He disclosed that Nana Addo had promised to execute the project, if he is given the nod in the upcoming elections.
He charged the volunteer groups to embark on house to house campaign to sell the policies of Nana Akufo- Addo, adding that they should also remind the electorates of what the precious NPP administration was able to do for the people of Ashaiman.
The Ghana Chapter Chairman of Coalition to Elect Nana Addo and Bawumia (CENAB) Mr. Kweku Osei Bonsu also charged supporters of the party to be vigilant during the elections to prevent rigging by the governing National Democratic Congress.
Mr Osei Bonsu who accused NDC of specializing in rigging elections, said there are indications that the governing party and EC want to rip the elections in favour of President Mahama and urged the NPP supporters to open their eyes like a snake.
"You must open your eyes like a snake because if we don't do that the NDC and EC will rig the elections for John Mahama",he advised.
