The New Patriotic Party(NPP) parliamentary candidate for Tema West in the Greater Accra region Mr Kingsley Carlos Ahenkorah has distributed about 10,117 Mathematics and English text books to students in eleven public Junior High and primary schools in his constituency. The beneficiaries were drawn from the following schools:TI Ahmadiyya JHS & Primary, Star JHS & Primary, Comm.5 No. 1&2 Primary & JHS, Comm. 5 No. 3 Primary & JHS, Aggrey Road No. 1 Primary & JHS, Aggrey Road No. 2 Primary & JHS and Salvation Army School Primary & JHS. The rest were from: My Zion Methodist School Primary & JHS ,Sakumono Complex 1 Primary & JHS ,Sakumono Complex 2 Primary & JHS and Baatsona Kotobaabi Primary & JHS.

The text books, which cost thousands of dollars were distributed to the students by Mr Carlos Ahenkorah himself, in a bid to ensure that each student received a copy of the book. The students were very excited and expressed their gratitude to Mr Carlos Ahenkorah for demonstrating his love and commitment to promote quality teaching and learning in the constituency. They commended him for organizing free vacation classes for them any time they were on vacation. Speaking to Oman News after the distribution of the text books, Mr Carlos Ahenkorah, explained that the rationale behind the distribution of the books was to encourage students in public schools to study hard in order to compete with those in private schools.

He noted that most of the students in public schools particularly those in Junior High Schools were not able to gain admission into some of the first class SHS in country because of their poor performance in Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), stressing that one of the ways he thought could address the issue was to provide them with educational materials as a form of motivation for them to study harder. Mr Ahenkorah promised to upgrade the infrastructure in all the public schools in Tema West constituency if he is given the nod in the upcoming general elections. He entreated the students to take their education very serious and also advised them to refrain from certain lifestyle which can truncate their quest to climb the ladder of education.
