A former Minister of Energy under the erstwhile Kufuor administration Mr Kofi Addah, has criticised President Mahama administration over it's decision to increase the price of fuel barely two months to the general elections.
According to him, the 11% increment in petroleum products at the time when majority of Ghanaians are reeling under economic hardships clearly confirms the uncaring and insensitivity on the part of President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress towards Ghanaians.
Kofi Addah who was reacting to the latest fuel increment in an interview with Oman FM said what the government had done was a deliberate move to kill the soul of Ghanaians.
He could not fathom why President Mahama would decide to cause an upward adjustment in fuel prices when Ghanaians are suffering because of the mismanagement of the economy.
"I think the recent increases in price of petroleum products amount to killing of the spirits and physical bodies of Ghanaians. Things have been hard for Ghanaians ever since John Mahama came into power," he said.
"Salaries have been lowered. There is the problem of joblessness. Parents have spent their savings to educate their children and after completion there are no jobs for them. Even the teachers and nursing trainees who have been posted have worked for several years but have paid only three months salaries," he added.
Asked what could be the reason why President Mahama took such a decision knowing very well the political implication of it, since it is an election year Mr Kofi Addah noted that the decision was probably based on no other reason than the usual "Yentia Obia" to wit "We will listen to anybody" culture of President Mahama and NDC government.
He argued that President Mahama's decision to increase the price of fuel could cost him in the upcoming general elections and wondered whether there is something under his sleeve that is why he took such decision.
"Politically I can't read their minds and I don't know what they have under their sleeves. But it is clear to me that it is their usual Yentie Obia culture. They just don't care even though they know Ghanaians are suffering "
Mr Kofi Addah charged Ghanaians to demonstrate their anger against President Mahama by going to the various polling station on December 7 and vote out President Mahama administration.
