The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary for Adentan Constituency in the Greater Accra region, Lawyer Yaw Buabeng Asamoa, has charged Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Kudalor to demonstrate his neutrality by arresting supporters of NDC behind recent brutal attacks on some NPP supporters.

He said it was about time IGP move beyond his usual rhetoric of ensuring that this year’s elections become peaceful and back his assurance with serious action.

“If IGP indeed want this year’s elections to be peaceful then he should get serious by arresting trouble makers whether they are NDC or NPP supporters,” he said.

His comment follows latest brutal attacks on some supporters of the New Patriotic Party in Ajumako Bisease in the Central Region, at the weekend by blood thirsty thugs of the governing NDC.

The windscreen of the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area Mr. Ransford Kwesi Nyarko was smashed while two party members were butchered in the process.

It would be recalled that some supporters of the NPP in Kukuom in Asunafo South Constituency of the Brong Ahafo were attacked with machetes by supporters of NDC, leaving one man’s finger being chopped off.

The police service is yet to make any arrest in these incidences.

Speaking on Oman Fm’s National Agenda on Monday, Yaw Buabeng Asamoa wondered why the police have failed to arrest the NDC hooligans for the violence attack on their supporters.

“If IGP thinks he will call for the arrest of only NPP supporters and allow NDC supporters to go scot free, then I can assure him that it will be tough for him to handle when we retaliate,” he warned.

He called on the civil society groups who are advocating for peaceful elections to also advocate for free and fair elections.
