I'm hoping to be declared winner -Nana Addo

The presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo has indicated to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission(EC) Madam Charlotte Osei that he is hoping to be declared the winner after the December 7 polls.

Nana Akufo- Addo said this as he smiled and filed his nomination forms at the headquarters of the EC,Thursday, September 29,2016.

He is the first presidential candidate to submit his nomination forms in less than the 48 hours' deadline set by the EC.

"Since I'm the first to file my forms, by God's grace, I will be the first person you'll declare winner," Akufo-Addo said.

Nana Addo urged the Commission to conduct the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in a free, fair and transparent manner so that the outcome would be accepted by all the contesting candidates.

He was accompanied by the Acting Chairman of the party, Freddy Blay, Acting General Secretary John Boadu, Chairman of the Council of Elders C.K Tedam, National Campaign Manager Peter Mac Manu and former Finance Minister Osafo Maafo.

Others included Prof. Mike Ocquaye, Oboshie Sai Cofei, Mr. Obiri Boahene Deputy General Secretary and National Women’s Organiser Otiko Djaba.

The Chairperson of Electoral Commission Madam Charlotte Osei and her two deputies, Mr. Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwa, received Nana Addo's nomination forms.

However, Madam Charlotte Osei indicated that the Commission could not accept the banker's draft for the filing fees because of the injunction filed by the Progressive People's Party (PPP) challenging the cost of the filing fees.

"We will receive your nomination forms because we don't want to unduly delay the electoral calender. But we will not accept the banker's draft because of the injunction filed by the Progressive People's Party against the Commission regarding the filing fees," Madam Charlotte Osei explained.
