The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in the state of shock and bewilderment following a mammoth crowd which followed flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo -Addo on Friday when he took his tour of Greater Accra region to Ashaiman constituency.
Sources within the ruling party indicates that both national and constituency executives are having sleepless nights since last Friday when the NPP standard bearer left the constituency.
The party is said to be wondering as to how the opposition leader was able galvanize massive support in its stronghold.
Even though Nana Addo was expected to arrive in Ashaiman at about 4pm from Tema, where he was campaigning, several residents left their homes and businesses to the streets to wait and welcome him to the town.
Commercial activities in Ashaiman came to a standstill when Nana Addo finally touched Ashaiman.

There was heavy vehicular traffic and not even more than 30 police officers as well as personal security guards of Nana Addo could control the traffic situation in the town.
The situation was so terrible that, it took Nana Addo’s entourage about two solid hours to move from the Ashaiman overhead bridge to the Ashaiman Traditional Council which under normal circumstances would have taken them 15 minutes.
Many of the residents shouted “we want change” “we want change” and waved to Nana Akufo –Addo and his entourage.
They accused NDC of failing to fix myriads of challenges in the Municipality and promised to vote massively for NPP in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
Sources close to Oman FM indicated that the party would convey an emergency meeting later this week to discuss the issue and come out with a strategy to ensure that they maintain the seat.
The NDC has held the Ashaiman Parliamentary seat from 1992 until in 2001 when confusion rock the party paving way for the NPP candidate to sail through.
However, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon. Alfred Kwame Agbesi won the seat back to the NDC in 2004 elections and he has since maintained the seat.
Hon. Alfred Kwame Agbesi lost his bid to represent his party and the people of Ashaiman the fourth time to Mr Ernest Norgbey, who is the Parliamentary Candidate for the 2016 elections.
